YAYNESS! my mum's getting me a psp as a belated christmas present! i'm gonna have a psp by the end of this week!*shameless hao lian-ing*. sadly there's no red so i'm just gonna settle for the other colours


anyways, this thread is for all things playstation. the best ps game(preferably psp games since i have no fucking idea which game to get), best coloured psp, worst games, best site for downloads, what umd is best (what the fuck is a umd anyways?). all that kind of worthless shit .

oh yeah i'm probably getting a ps3 by this year end so that's included too. GTA NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD.

UMD is the disc la. Its called Universal Media Disc.

UMD is the main disk drive in the psp. 'original' games come in UMDs (just like how computer games come in DVDs or CDs) and u just pop it into the drive to play...

there are NO pirated UMDs. all UMDs are made by sony regardless of what game company made the game/video

there are two types of UMDs known, one for movie and one for game. the movie UMDs are much cheaper than the games, and the game UMDs ranges from rm60-rm200. depending on the popularity of the title and/or the complexity of the game/movie (games with lots of 3d effects cost more, like ff7 crisis core, and also movies with multi languages)

the latest 'custom' firmware (as in, a downgraded psp to play pirated games) does not need a UMD anymore to run pirated games, so you actually do not have to buy UMDs to play since u can easily download the games off the internet. Unless you really want to support the game company (so that they will continue producing games and ppl are still buying them, not downloading pirated copies) then buy the original UMD.

so far i only have two original UMDs, one (harry potter and the goblet of fire) was bought together with my psp, because at that time, the custom firmwares needed a (any) UMD in the drive to run pirated games. the other one (final fantasy 2 anniversary edition) was bought recently from play-asia because it was on offer and i just 'felt' like owning an original. XD

and by the way, where are u getting your psp from?

i do not suggest local game shop sellers because they tend to hike the prices high. and definitely not form the official sony outlets because those PSPs are expensive and although provides better warranty coverage, does not allow user to play pirated games (because it is 'original')

in my case, i bought my psp off www.lelong.com.my and i even got another one for my fren from there (both are new units). go browse around that marketplace and see the prices..

and remember one rule: DO NOT UPGRADE/UPDATE IN ANYWAY UNLESS U REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

ps. rain's bro updated his psp (itchy hands) and he couldnt play pirated games... had to bring to shop to downgrade for another rm80

i've yet to collect the 4gig memory stick that i passed to the salesperson. but the games that i'm gonna have is locoroco, ff7 crisis core, burnout legends, tekken 5, tales of the world and disgea, afternoon of darkness. i know 4 gig cannot fit so much but the guy says he'll try to fit as many as possible. I WANT BURNOUT LEGENDS!! AND KINGDOM HEARTS BIRTH BY SLEEP!!! in the other one i'm getting death junior 2, luxor, tales of phantasia and jeanne d'arc as well as burnout legends and tekken for multiplaying

omigosh, REALLY? i noticed that he looked over when i said that but i didn't know that his psp was black. lol do you think he's offended? i'm so glad i got the white one. every time i look at it it just keep getting prettier and prettier.
