GOOD! Now tell me what's so great about it cuz I simply don't get the anime at all. I've been dying to ask someone who adores this anime just what the attraction is all about because I seriously don't see it. It was a huge senseless mess to me though.

it's Suzumiya Haruhi. full name of the anime, The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. i dun wanna say much bout it cos it's out of topic.

here in sams got several big fans of it and 1 of them is rain! rain, open a new thread and explain to them! currently, we r practicing the dance also XD

I liked kyouya, since he's the mysterious yet supportive type, somewhat like me XD. ouran's humour however, failed to really reach me most of the time. okay, they might have reached me, but i didn't really find them funny. the character interactions was where the anime shined best, haruhi and tamaki especially. i would crown haruhi as the most indepth character of the show, eventhough most of the time she's pretty static. i thought the interactions between hikaru/kaoru and mori/honey were pretty shallow though. however, by themselves, their individual characters were easier to bond with.

about suzumiya haruhi, in all seriousness, is a great anime with high production values and superb directing. however, the anime is has quite a serious shortfall in one area: presentation of the story. many people don't really get what the heck haruhi is about as much of story presented in the anime is really the top icing of the cake. in actual fact, you really have to think analytically to discern all those small yet important details to understand the gist of the story. most of the important details are in there, and it's left to the viewer to link and connect them. and generally, the messiness (all those detail being segregated throughout the show) that would really be a put off.

i enjoyed the show as there's really a lot of really well done premises: fanservice, voice acting, animation quality, etc... even the episode shifting... which from a production view, is really an ingenious move by the director. those are niche things i do appreciate. and if you know the story, the anime will delight you even more, with all those wacky character interactions and the underlying story behind haruhi. i truly loved tanigawa sensei's writing (the haruhi novels), and it's a dream of mine to be able to write at that standard.

one more thing. the haruhi hype is just blown out of proportions... not that i'm against it XD at least it doesn't really give us that much a bad name... i mean... those crazy haruhiists dancing in the street... XD
